Biography

Shuying Li is a doctoral candidate in the School of Education at the University of Nottingham, specialising in dialogic teaching practices across cultural contexts. She holds a bachelor's degree in Applied Linguistics of Phonetics from China and a master's degree in TESOL from Canada. Her academic journey is complemented by two years of professional teaching experience, which has enhanced her practical understanding of educational theories and classroom dynamics.

Shuying has been part of various research teams and has contributed significantly to projects that deepen the understanding of educational dynamics. She has published her findings in respected academic journals and regularly presents at international education conferences such as BERA, AERA, WCCES, etc. Her research interests are broad and interdisciplinary, including:

Current Research

As an advocate for applying educational research to enhance teaching and learning, Shuying is committed to advancing educational practices that support the development of both teachers and students. She serves as a peer reviewer for academic journals and has reviewed four scholarly articles in the field of dialogic teaching, contributing to the wider educational research community. In addition, she holds a part-time position with The Brilliant Club in the UK, where she shares her expertise to inspire and support school students through educational outreach programs.

Shuying is currently attending a Fellowship Program in Children Studies & Human Rights at Salem State University. This fellowship experience aligns with her long-term career goals, allowing her to expand her research scope and professional network globally in child and youth education and human rights. Through these diverse roles and experiences, she continues to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world educational practice, maintaining a professional yet personable approach in all her educational endeavours.
